BHES Athletics
BHES students in Grades 4 to 8 have the opportunity to participate in a variety of competitive athletic events throughout the year. The following teams are sponsored by the York Region Elementary Athletics Association: - Cross Country - Volleyball - Basketball - Badminton - Track & Field In addition to these teams, groups of schools may organize tournaments and establish teams in the following sports: - Soccer - Flag Football - Ultimate Frisbee Students should listen to announcements, check @theroar_BHES Instagram page, and visit this website for information regarding tryouts. Music Clubs
Whether you're new to playing an instrument or studying for your RCM exams, BHES offers opportunities for students to engage in a variety of music clubs, including: - Choir - Drumming - Ukulele - Orff Club (xylophones, glockenspiels, etc.) Members of these clubs support various assemblies and performances throughout the year. For practice days/times, check out the bulletin board outside the music room. Speak with Ms. Steenburgh if you have any other questions.
BHES Press
BHES Press is BHES' student media team. Members of BHES Press are responsible for creating this website, publishing the weekly newsletter, managing our Twitter and Instagram pages, and supporting staff and students at BHES through photography, videography, the creation of announcements, posters, and similar material. Yearbook Club
The yearbook team consists of students in Grades 7 and 8 who design the annual yearbook. The team determines the theme(s) for the yearbook, curates content, takes pictures, organizes orders and deliveries, edits the layout, and more. The yearbook team is looking for students who are organized, independent workers, with an eye for design. If you're interested in joining the yearbook team, speak with Ms. McLean or Ms. Preziosa.
Spirit Assembly Team
The Spirit Assembly Team is responsible for putting together our monthly assemblies. They create the picture slideshows, provide updates on school events, write the script, and MC the show. Interested in learning more about the team? Speak with Ms. Myers or Ms. Steenburgh

Many extracurricular clubs at BHES are developed based on student interest. If there's something you're interested in and you think others might be interested too, find a teacher who would be willing to support you in supervising and developing a club. Some examples of clubs that BHES students have led in the past include: - Anime Club - Chess Club - Magic! the Gathering - Games Room - Robotics Club - Science Fair The opportunities are endless!
